Weather here in Illinois had been very cold and
a few snow falls. Warmed up the last few days
and in the 60’s today.

Decided to do a bit of scouting for the spring
and summer. This time of year is excellent,
easy to spot things in the woods.

Have a location that I got some leads on and
decided to see what is there.

Did not take along all my gear; no detector; took
GPS, maps I had, digging tool, water, that’s about it.

Trail leading into the area, this was an old farm area,
only young trees.

Good, “sitting log”. Good place to solve all the problems
that come up in life. 8)

Moving into the wood surrounding the farm and the
terrain got a bit more up and down. This old man
went up and down.

And up and down. Good work out. ;)

Spotted something a way off and went in that direction.

Dead tent. ???

Being the excellent woodsman I am :P; I deboned it. ;D

If I did not go towards the dead tent I would not have
come across this: Common “Castoria” bottle. Did not
find any other items in the area, but got the coordinates
and will make it back for a better investigation in the
spring or summer. Where there is one, may be more. :o

All in all a good day out in the woods, felt good being out. ;D

Gave the bones to the woman and hope she can find a use
for it; good plant hanger perhaps. :-\

I have had lots of success on old walking trails. I wrote an article for W&ET years ago on the topic. I would like to have a shot at those! You should do well there.
