OH Yeah, My heart was pumping when I dug this beauty about 5 feet from the historic sign marker at my permission today . I've been at this site once before a couple years ago and nabbed a shield nickel. The property owner told me then that I could detect but about 17 others before me had already done it.

Today I found my first US civil war belt buckle! :hello2:

Dang Yanks, always dropping and littering our Southern Landscapes with their stuff, (except where I hunt) Lol. Great Save on the U.S. Plate, in very nice shape too, with all the hardware on the back. Always nice to see where nice relics are still being found in Georgia. As said, it still gives us hope. Well Done on a very nice piece of History.

I noticed when your awesome Belt Plate when dried looks sorta like the Box Plate I dug years ago , mine was found in a pretty damp area . Also the back of mine in more silver looking and not as patina 'd as white as yours .

Just an observation . Good day
