This type of thing was implemented across the board so to speak of anything they could.
Hat brooches... Sash brooches... bolo's... brooches and pins etc etc.

Its "trade name" is "pierced / stamped metal" yada yada... err basically... that is what i have always known it as.
Done with a variety of different metals as well.

Wouldn’t it be one sided if that were the case? It has exact symmetry both sides of it are finished pretty.
I think you were directing that question at me.

Ok... after one quick search this is a link to an example of this technique... note the backside.

Something kinda-sorta like it.

It has to be something that suspended as a decoration, as it has no fixings (or scars) other than holes. It was meant to be seen both sides, so that limits it's function.

Sometimes the connections were made with thread and or thin wire to a pin bar... flat style.

One thing everyone here needs to keep in mind.....
Jewelry is and has been the most produced item on earth.
Nothing....
And i repeat ... nothing....... has been produced more... other than arrows and spears and fire... heh

Since living in caves.

I agree . my post was mainly for the similarity in design (ie: layered filagree) and not in function. As I said earlier, the holes in the one the OP posted are there with purpose.
