I’ve posted this once before a long time ago with little response, but after all the great info I got on my families love token I wonder if anyone could offer a little info as it it’s age and origin. Thanks again for any info offered. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1514152436.389257.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1514152465.652383.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1514152483.135722.jpg

only thing I can find is that it's Italian, evidently from a school of some sort. My best guess is that it dates probably somewhere between 1880-1900

Your medallion has a depiction of a crowned Griffin.
There are numerous schools and universities that have a griffin as a school mascot. Go to wikipedia; griffin, school mascot

Way cool, thank you guys! I wish my grandpa was around to answer some of these questions you guys have given me, it’s definitely neat learning this about this stuff.

Perugia is the capital city of Umbria, Italy and the Augusta is the municipal library in Perugia. Scuola Elementare means Elementary School. Maybe a library pass for a school child?

Augusta - Turismo Perugia

Its some kind of medal given to the best student that year. So could be related to reading.

Way cool, thanks fyrffytr1 and Crusader for that extra info, now I have more info to find out if it’s a family piece or just something he acquired... on the solved thread thing, I’m wondering if I have different options since I access from a phone? That or I’m just not internet savvy enough to figure it out.
