Got back to the park I've been hunting on and off now for the past two weeks and pulled a couple of interesting finds! :icon_thumright: For the most part I feel this park has never seen a metal detector as I'm digging a good signal every few feet, mostly pennies though! :laughing7: Unfortunately, no silver coins today :'( , but I did manage to find a Sterling Silver Thimble! This beauty was about 6" down and is really sweet! :o It was made by James Swann of Birmingham, England in 1907.

I found a lot of mid-1940's & '50's pennies, a 1944 & '45 Wheat and a 1943 Canadian 'Victory' Nickel . . . my first. I also found a lot of keys, including a broken skeleton key, a couple of buttons, a 'rusted out' pocket knife and around $2.00 in change. ;D

Thanks for looking and best of luck to you!
Dave

Beautiful Thimble Dave!
Never saw one with the MM & hallmarks on the rim like that :o
or with relief designs, mine are engraved/embossed :dontknow:
Keep up those great silver digs! HH

Wow! She came up really nice Dave! That beaut would look great in a red or dark blue velvet display. I really love the hallmarks! :blob7:

Ya, if you're coming to Kitchener next summer I'd love to get together and hammer a few places I know. We can detect in the day and wipe out a bunch of steaks and beer at night.

I'll PM ya my info, keep it handy.

Dave, that is one of the Finest thimbles I've ever seen, A BIG Congratulations! :occasion14:

Thanks Herbie!

As soon as I pulled it out I thought it was a three ring bullet, then I saw the markers around the base and thought . . . "this isn't a bullet!" I decided that I had to resist the urge to rub it to figure out what it was, so I waited until I got home. I'd never seen a thimble like this one either with a green agate stone top, but that kinda makes sense since it was probably made for the Irish market. I read on-line that these items were often given as wedding gifts, hence the 'ring or shamrocks' surrounding the base.

Have a great weekend buddy, :hello:

Thanks CT, but I'll probably end up selling this thimble on-line as I do with most of my finds!

I'll definitely give you a call this spring to arrange for a day or at least an afternoon of hunting in the KW region! :icon_thumright: Love the idea of steaks and beer, my treat. . . you'll see how much I love our Canadian beer when I meet you man! :laughing7:

Thanks for your post,
Dave
