I met Tnetter Bergie in the Low Country of SC last Friday. He had a couple of spots for us to hunt, one an old road with Civil War skirmish site, the other a wooded area where a plantation once stood.
The woods were awesome. There were all sorts of interesting things that I don’t see in the city.
Golden orb weaver spiders were everywhere! There body is about 2” long.
I also spotted several patches of edible chanterelle mushrooms.
I caught a big skink.
I found a brick, with a fingerprint in it. I assume this person was a slave, as it came from a plantation. I left it there, bad juju.
Thanks for bearing with me. On to the treasure.
Somehow I managed to find a Mercury dime. I was certain it was my first seated coin, Bergie laughed at my despair. An ‘88 Indian also showed up. I also found a spoon bowl marked Sterling.
I managed to find some flat buttons and a rivet.
I got fired and dropped round balls. One of them has a hole through it.
All of the lead came out with a hard black crust. I removed it with a bamboo skrewer.
Here are the bullets. I’m not sure about the first two. The color is right, but I don’t recognize them. I think the next two are Sharps carbine. I really like the carbine bullets. The others are .58 cal and .69 cal Minie balls and a lone Enfield.
Thanks Bergie!
Thanks for looking and good luck on your hunts.
