I joined last year and lurked a little and then kind of fell off the website and the hobby but have recently came across it again. I am preparing more this year with more research and I have a couple privately owned land location that I need to ask permission for. I thought I had posted last year at least introducing myself but my profile says I have 0 posts.

I figured why not make this my first. Saying Hello to everyone, I have had fun times reading and watching everyone's stories/videos. I have only been detecting for a little less then 2 years but really have only gotten out to 3 club hunts and I have hunted my yard. Like I said I am hoping for a lot more this year.

The find I am showing is really the only find of last year besides some clad I have gotten. I was on my second hunt of last year and it was after a rainy night and the ground was a little muddy. I dug this out at 4-5 inches and I knew it was bigger then a quarter but couldn't tell what it was because of the mud. I put it in my pocket and 30 or so minutes later when another club member ask if I had found anything, I showed him the coin which was now dry. From what he could see it was a Large Cent. I went home and cleaned it and what I got was a 1817 Large Cent

Thanks everyone.

I have ordered the Garrett Pro pinpointer and I am picking up a "point and shoot" digital camera that does HD video today so hopefully I am on the right track and should be able to get some videos and photos up of things I find.

Next step is waiting :( for all this damn snow to melt.
