Sawmill items?

I found these on a mountain that was logged possibly between 1880 to 1930. I have located the location of the sawmill through my MD, finding a multitude of hand forged five and three inch nails. I have plotted their location, but have more work to do. The tractor or engine cover was found downhill and possibly 400 yards from the mill. The broken threaded pipe and the one foot pipe were found at where I assume the steam engine might have been placed. The round couplers were found 10 feet from the engine. There were about 15 to 20, but further investigation may reveal more. Any ideas on what the these items are or how they were used. Thanks in advance.

Sawmill items, again.

I am reposting this because I recieved no responses on it. I am most interested in the part that looks like it is a cover for a tractor or some kind of engine. It is approximately 2' long and 1.5' wide. Any help is much appreciated.

With the dates you posted for the mill site, the early 1800's the logs would have been yarded with oxen or work horses, probably oxen. Later they would have used a steam donkey. The saw would have been powered by either water or steam, or very early on over a pit with two men on a misery whip. If they used a steam donkey, you should be finding cable, and parts of chokers, cant hooks, peeveys, pickaroons or chain. From your photos I seen nothing that indicates a saw mill or logging site. The last picture the item on the lower right looks like it might be a horn weigh off an oxen, but I can't see enough of it to be sure. Go find some more stuff, and you might find the rosetta stone that will pull it all together.

BosnMate, Wow! Thanks so much. This was my second time on the mountain with limited time. Next time I will more carefully photo document everything I've found so far. I have found some large cables and other pieces that I need to have ID'ed. I do know that they had oxen. As a matter of fact, they moved the existing homestead across a creek with the oxen and wagon. Stay tuned. It is great to know that I have a resource who knows what they're talking about. I'm a novice but willing to learn.
