I thought I would start this by asking any and all, if they have heard of, or know of, any legends of gold in the Santa Rosa mts in southern California.. I have heard of Figtree John mine but am not aware of the total story. So lets see what this might bring..All are invited
 

Its my understanding that fig tree john had a couple of gold sources

he traded water & supplies and even grubstaked the occasional prospector

His home before the formation of the salton sea was at agua dulce (sweetwater) very near the lowest point of the basin. where all gold bearing waters from the surrounding mountains would flow toward (inluding the colorado when it would flood toward the north)

Fig tree (Aka. Juanita Razon) knew the washes and where the water would most likely make deposits.

I do believe after the flooding of the salton sea in 1905, his main gold sources dried up or at least disapeared under the water.
