WIN_20190404_132242.JPG Found in Maine farm field dating to 1820. Approx. 1/2 inch in diameter. Reverse side is toast. Would appreciate any help you guys can give. Thanks in advance. BTW- The word "STAR" is readable between the points, but not sure what the other letters are.:usflag: Thanks, DeepDowneast.

This is the wick adjustment knob for an oil lamp burner.
Yours is an earlier example from the 1860s, if I remember correctly it was used on the early 'Star' H.B. & H (Holmes, Booth & Hayden) burners.

Welcome to Tnet from Toronto!
Dave

Thanks so much Dave. I was losing sleep over this one. I found a really nice flat button at the same place (1840s ><) and a nice Indian (1894). The place is still lived on (love those permissions) and the house across the road dates to 1820. Lots of room and plenty of virgin fields.. HH.. Stan....DeepDowneast..:hello:

You're very welcome Stan.
I worked for a company based in Bangor for six years until 2016 and had to drive up to Maine twice a year from Toronto.

You have a ton of history in your state, not to mention great seafood and country music concerts! :laughing7:

Best of luck to you this season,
Dave
