Sand Scoop

Depends, are you using the scoop in dry sand or working in the surf?

Probably will try both...

Many of the answers you get will be "try the one I'm using!", so let me throw mine on the pile. :) I use the Stealth Classic 8" scoop. I bought it because it was a little cheaper than normal off their Bargain Bin page (I'm okay with "used" stainless steel). They have a lifetime warranty, too. It's been working great, and I'll likely buy another scoop from them. The company has some other really nice models. Stealth beach scoop

The SunSpot Stealth 720i is the best one IMO, but it's also pretty heavy and maybe not the best choice for travel. It's tough, has a nice point for digging in rocks, and has a big 1-2 scoop basket for the surf. A lifetime repair/replace warranty to boot! My buddies are always borrowing mine for those deep beach targets! :laughing7:

This is what I use - RTG Model #R790 stainless water scoop. I weigh 220 and can stand on it in hard packed wet sand.

I've been looking at getting one of those as my second scoop. I like that it only weighs a bit over 3 lbs...my Stealth Classic 8" w/ the handle weighs about 5.5 lbs. Big difference on a long hunt. It looks like it'd be perfect for the dry sand and wet sand, but I'd still use the Stealth in the water.

I use the 720i tube model with the carbon fiber handle. Its light as a feather strong as hell in my opinion the best scoop you can get but your gonna pay for it...

Here is my research and what I ended up doing:

I think that the Stealth is the good one overall. I just didn't want to pay that much for it and I wasn't going to get the one with the separate kick wedge on the back. The two piece was considerably cheaper, but I wanted the one piece, but I wasn't willing to pay that much.

I like what I saw in the T-Rex, but I felt the same too high.

I elected to buy the stainless RTG. I got stainless because it is a little more durable. I won't be doing any surf hunting, just quiet waters, so the smaller scoop was more my style. I didn't know how strong the two piece shaft was, so I got the one piece. I've used it very little, but for mud and vegetation, the handle makes a big difference, verses clean, wet sand. This is what I went with:

RTG makes some nice scoops. I do want to get a bigger second scoop that will sift wet stuff better though. Probably going to get a Stavr 2.2 scoop

They are overseas. He only used to take like western union or money gram? Now he accepts Paypal and also sells them on EBay. Excellent scoop. He offers several models from huge to nice size. Very light in weight but will last a lifetime. I tried one a few weeks ago at the jersey shore. Thing was awesome. I like the stealth scoops but they are gigantic. If you took a full scoop of wet sand you would drop a nut trying to lift it.
