Does anyone have recommendations on a good spot to go panning in one of the forks on the San Gabriel River? I tried a bit of the West Fork but had no success. Keep in mind that I am level 1 rookie for sure...
East Fork is where it's at. It's where I first experiencing dredging years back. It has a pretty active group of miners with a Facebook group and they are pretty welcoming.
Check out the facebook group Robert mentioned, also do a Youtube Search for East fork San Gabriel. There are a number of guys that have put out videos of there gold panning/sluicing trips over the last 7 years or so.
Thank you everyone for the replys. I had read that the east fork was a recommended spot. I probably should have mentioned that in the original post. I suppose I am just curious if anyone has been there and can perhaps give me an idea of how far back to go from the reservoir.
Gold can be found all along it's length. Most people I know work between the cattle canyon bridge and the Bridge to Nowhere. However historically most gold was found between the resivor and the cattle canyon bridge.
