The San Diego Coinshooters is one of the oldest metal detecting clubs in the country. We've been searching for treasure since 1974. Our monthly meetings are held (usually) on the 4th Friday of every month at the Clairemont Community Park Center at 4425 Bannock Ave. San Diego, Ca. 92117 starting at 6pm. Guests are welcome, so, come by and check us out! Our website is sdcoinshooters.com

Hello Coinshooters. Just ran across this. Brought back alot of fond memories of my early days in this hobby. Was a member of the club in the late 1970's while stationed at 32nd street Navy base. Learned alot from many people. Of course many have passed on as I was a young guy at the time and most were older. Howard Childress was my mentor. One hell of a hunter and a great friend. He died of cancer in the early 90's and I lost touch with his wife Lee. They took me in like I was part of their family. Kevin Reilly was around my age and the 3 of us were a trio. Kevin moved to Florida and opened a detector and scoop business. I went home to western New York state. Kevin passed away also of cancer in 2009. His business lives on. I also remember Russ Gish, and Ken and Jean Nikodym.

We now meet on the 4th Tuesday of every month (except December when we have our Christmas dinner) at the Tierra Santa Library from 6pm to 8pm. Guests are always welcome. You can get more info by going to our website. sdcoinshooters.com

The San Diego Coinshooters are having a seeded hunt on Sept 17th. Lots of tokens for prizes and coins of all sorts will be planted in the sand for entrants to find! Go to our website or Facebook page for more details if you'd like to participate. Only $15 for members, and $20 for non-members.
