Was back up north last week. .spent more time camping than digging though. Water was high and slow on the river making it impossible to sluice. Found a little chunky color on a friends claim.

hey I recognize those Handsome devils:laughing7: Glad You guys took my advice and headed down 395. It was nice you guys could come up and nice to meet Elvis cool guy. It was sad to drive out past the empty campsite.
I ended up moving above the boulder so I can get the area around it cleaned up before I roll it.
the gold in sand is cool thanks for letting me borrow it back on cracky bedrock and bigger color and a lot more fines....Heading out in a few minutes I'll text you later Dan.

Thanks again for putting us in a great camp spot, and thanks for letting us dig on your claim. It was good hanging out with you. I'll see you in a couple weeks. I'll be at the miners bash for sure.

Looks like a good time , I'm no used to the water thing , I'm in the desert , have to pack our water , but some day I'll find a river or stream , wish you the best of luck for the yellow stuff.

Hey everyone, after reading all thirty pages of this thread I had to create an acc. Im a San Diego native who grew up in ramona the last couple decades. I recently moved back to SD from my fuel reduction job in greenwood CA, 10 miles or so from Forest Hill bridge and Coloma where I caught the gold bug. Im not working with to much. 3-4 pans and a tee-dee EZ-sluice set up to recirculate in a 20 gal. storage tote with a 1200gph bilge pump. Id like to get involved with some people local to my area, instead of joining a official club who share my prospecting interests. Im fortunate to have access to a verity of private land along old julian hwy and parts of the 78 going out towards Wynola and Julian, (just to name a few). Unfortunately many times when mentioning my "hobbie" to friends I get that "raised eyebrow look" or they flake when they realize the work involved. Im no expert myself but ive spent the majority of my time reading whatever I can find in comparison to what Ive been able to spend in the field. So I here looking for advice and possibly some cool people. :D

The turn around is ironic, in that i am now in Garden Valley, just around the corner from Greenwood! Hit up a few people from this link. Some good guys in San Diego, just my much water..lol

hah ironic it is, thanks I will keep reaching out. Oh?! did you hear about the rain we've been getting? Got like 4 inches in an hour or something, broke a 135 year old record.

Yes i was down there over the weekend for all that rain. Still in the process of moving the family up.
Its good that you have access to private property, because access to the gold is tough in SD.

LOL. Ramona huh? I lived there for YEARS!!!! I got smart and got out of California. I still have part ownership in property there in town though.

Dan... Will call you in a bit Brudda. New developments here in Arid-Zona.

Jeff, i missed your call. Super crappy signal where I am staying at the moment. I'll give you a call tomorrow.

Dan, I wish you and family best of luck as I'm sure its been quite a year. My hunch is you made the right choice relocating up north for both raising family and prospecting possibilities.
BTW ; call me deranged but I'm still hoping to find that next "Stonewall Mine" down here someplace. Take care.....Rob

Hey yall, I'm doing good in the Mother Load. Nice change of pace and people up here. I want to share this video. Its east fork san Gabriel. I know most of the faces in this film. Well worth watching. Thanks Patrick, and RIP Papa Bear. Papa bear is the big black man you'll see around 6min mark.

Great clip Dan thanks for sharing. Nice to see a few guys left that haven't lost their balls.

I hear San Diego is getting a good bit of rain. Anyone getting out and getting some gold?

Since I was born and raised in San Diego I root for the SD prospectors. I occasionally peek in here to see if any fellow Charger fans are pulling out the color. I bought my first sluice in that prospecting shop on El Cajon Blvd by SDSU when I was about 13. I used to take it out to the Cuyamaca mountains in East County by Julian. Good luck brother!
