Isn't it funny how one can go back to a place and just change their style
of hunting a bit and it's like a brand new place? ;)

I went back to the same place as my last post, (att OWK), only I decided to
seek out a different target range/depth. I didn't exactly retrace my steps but that's
part of it, different style, different places to concentrate on.

Anyway, not as many, but, very, very interesting results:

Now, I've found my share of soccer spikes in my day
but this must have been one heck of a pivot!! LOL

Two whole wheat toasts to go! Both, about 10 inches down.

I will NEVER get tired of seeing this!! :)
marked 334 VI
About 3 grams

Pretty nice lil trinket to warm my heart.
(still smiling! :) )

Then there was this hit I got, 68-69, fairly deep. I said,
"I don't feel like digging another pull tab/can slaw."

And, I walked on by, but, as any who have done this
hobby for a while knows, this particular piece of trash
just wouldn't let go of my mind. (I KNOW 68-69 doesn't
ALWAYS mean tab/slaw). I tried to ignore, but, as many of you
have felt, I just HAD to go back and check this one! LOL

Now, I've just barely begun to attempt to clean. Once I saw the beginnings
of the design, I think I know what this is but thought I'd let you guys see
and comment. Maybe suggest if there's anything I might should be doing with
this one. I used just a toothpick very lightly so far.

I didn't mention it in this post yet, but I did in the other one. This place has been
hit for YEARS!! And yet...... :)

Thanks for peeking!

Looks like a good 'un! If you find out the magic cleaning method, please let me know lol.

Awesome scores Whadi, :occasion14: seems to me that you found a good style of hunting. I often clean an area out using the stock coil, and then I return (another time) with my 12" x 15" coil mounted using all metal mode and dig the iffy's and deep iron/foil signals. All my LCs have been dug using the stock DD coil.

Good work on the good style of hunting, what is the mystery coin?

Yep,, some previous hunters probably ignored some of the signals that you dug.
Congrats on some really nice targets.

I really don't know for sure, Treb. I'm afraid it isn't going to give much more in the way of hints.
Pretty toasted. I'd need one of the experts on old coppers to step up if they recognize what can be seen.
It weighs in at 6.14 grams, if that helps any. I'm trying to get it to give up a few more details but it's
not very cooperative. :dontknow:

I'll take an order of Golden Crab, with fried rice, please. Your zodiac "cancer" pendant is outstanding, Whadi, congrats. With those markings, is it a foreign-made gold item? Waiting with anticipation on the great reveal of that old copper coin. Very happy for you man! Sub 8-)

I believe the marking on the charm may be "foreign". Also, I think that 334 means 8kt.

As far as the coin goes, it's not giving up many hints.

Here's the latest pictures:

I'm still trying to find a way to get more detail, but I don't have much hope.

Thanks!

Whadi, Take a close look at the North Wales Halfpenny, circa 1795, with George Washington on the face and the lyre on the reverse. This may be your mystery coin! Sub 8-)

That was my first guess as well. But, I wish I could catch just a couple more clues from the coin. The "7" seems to be in about the right area. I'm not sure which way the bust is facing though.

I'm thinking more like this one:

I think the bust is facing left, but the facial features on your coin are worn way down. The "I V S" is in the correct location as is the orientaion of the lyre bottom and crown, and direction of its strings. I am reasonably sure that is what you have. I scoured my coin books and could not find anything else with these markers. Sub Sleuth! :laughing7:

I stand corrected, Whadi, I think you do have a Hibernia. After looking through a magnifying glass, your coin clearly has the remnants, "G I V S", the remnants of "GEORGIVS," on the Hibernia coin. The George Washington North Wales Halfpenny has "GEORGEIVS," or "GEORGLIVS." Distinctly different lettering. The coins have nearly identical reverse, though. Congrats, Sub 8-)

Sweet
Your the man.
And Blingie is the lizard!

Nice looking copper. Betting it has been passed over and over and over!!!! Great job going back!!!!:icon_thumleft:
