Hello all local South Benders/Elkhartians etc...Vibes, DJH...and all others. I saw the fence finally going up at the Kroc Center. I thought I would inform all of you guys as to updates on the parks evolution in to the concrete landscape that it will be. Ugh..........Anyhow, the fence is going up and I will post updates as to its progress and when we may be able to get on the property to hunt when the first 12 inches gets scraped off. I spoke to Major Bob and he said that when they scrape it they will place it at the back of the property near the railroad tracks. He said it will be difficult to get inside once the excavators are inside, but we may talk to the superintendant of the site to gain access. (I hope). I also spoke to him about the security issues once the equipment and tools are in place. I am hoping to be able to get everyone there after hours to do some quick hunts inside the "secure zone" if that is possible. But this all could fall apart if the heavy equip guys say no way.... So keep your fingers crossed and lets see what happens. The taste of 1800's is definately there....One of bottle digging buddies unearthed an 1850's napolean 3 coin in one of the pits...so the opportunity is there. Lets hope the construction guys will work with us. Believe me when I say that I will work all angles to get us all the permission to hunt there while construction is under way. I just fear that the suits and legal eagles will put a big stop sign at the entrance....Okay good luck on the future hunts and I will keep you all posted. jgas

jgas,

Thanks for the update and I to hope we can get in there for at least one more hunt. I truly believe that all of us who were there that Sunday are very respectable and would not get anywhere near the excavators.

Fingers crossed here across the county line.

ps.
Great looking jug you found

Thanks DJH, the jug turned out to be a real good one I guess. According to all the other diggers out there. They said it could fetch upwards of $500.....Its from a local guy named Adolf Mohn who was a wholesale liquor and wine distributor. These guys freaked out when I showed it to them. The guy that has been digging for over 30 years here has never seen one. So let the bidding begin I guess....I will keep ya posted on the Kroc Center. Happy Huntin. jgas

Hey guys:)

Thanks jgas for the update! I'll be downtown Wednesday and will do a drive-by, eye-spy. And a huge wow  on the jug...amazing!!!!!

I was suppose to hunt w. T-man today but thought it was suppose to rain all day so backed out...pffftt, weather folk don't know squat.

so T-man I hope you had another stellar silver day!!!!

Yours truly,
The tiara wearing terror

Thanks Vibes, yep the jug was killer. Local dealer here in town. Some of the diggers said it was the best find out of all the holes they have dug so far at the Kroc center. One guy said it will fetch around $500. WOW.......My buddy found a really cool old bitters bottle today too. Did a net search and found another one just like it for $380. What a week! Check ya later. jgas

Nifty little jug ya got there Jgas! Drove by today, perimeter fence is all up, grass & trees remain.
