Relic Hunting
I have been hunting relics and history for many years now and everytime I hear a story like this it makes me sick. I feel so bad for the family of the finder of this tablet. Most relic hunters I know respect the things they find and dont care to share. This is a gross misconduct of the historic societies of today. If it wasnt for people out researching history and stumbling upon these artifacts the archeologist or nasayers would never even know they exist. This guy had only the best intentions and was disgraced by those in high power.

Goes to say; Always get get in writing, the burden of proof. Sincerely hope the family gets the tablet back.

Good story for anyone who buys into trusting the pros to read, not the first time something like this has happened when you trust the professionals

Yeah I agree, here it is displayed with pride at the OHS.

I don't trust anyone from a historical society, an archaeologist, museum, etc. because of stuff like this.
They should save face and give it back to the rightful owners. Who knows when someone will find something a lot more important than this and will remember what kind of turncoats the historical society are.

???This tablet will remain a stain on the integrity of the OHS until it is returned to the finders family. They could display a cast just as well.

IF I found something such as this, a museum is where I would have it housed, studied, and protected.

BUT, it is totally CRIMINAL of the socialistic state to essentially STEAL the artifact by not honoring the initial agreement with the finder. In fact, it is nothing less than a criminal lie from representatives of the state and grand theft by the socialist state, the tablet should be returned and the finder should have total say over where the artifact ends up, whether in his dresser drawer or a museum.

If the finder has passed away, his immediate survivors are the only qualified and/or rightful owners and they should have the final say. NOT the state.

Those that stole the tablet from the finder should be facing felony criminal charges and serious prison time. When did man give the state the right to steal personal property from the individual?
