Been on a two hunt coin drought, found plenty of cool stuff but not even a wheatie or clad......weird. Anyway, today I got a call from a permission I asked the land owner about, he said his wife said “ today only permission” it’s seven acres that has The Old Bay road running right through it, it was the major thoroughfare from Springfield to Boston dating back into the 1600’s. I’m thinking “ jackpot!!” So me and a buddy went and detected it, all of it, even the swampy nasty rocky parts and got just about nothing, one decrepit pewter button, pewter musket ball and a dog tag. I couldn’t believe it. So we packed up and went to a really old city park that has several foundations on it to try our luck. I hadn’t been there since last summer so I was hoping the frost heaves did it some good and I wasn’t wrong. I only hit 4 coins but one was a half Reale which was a surprise, a merc and a IHP and a clad quarter. So the moral of the story is.............when all else fails, move. And to complete a great day, I left my shovel at the first permission, but I had my backup thankfully.

Nice haul!!! Congrats!!!

way to adapt and overcome. 7 acres in half a day, you guys must have been really hustling.

Looks like you turned a "nothing day" into a "quite something" day. Points for you! Congrats on all of your coins, especially the half real. How about a close-up pic?

Nice finds Joe. Sometimes it just pays to change your plans and move.

The IHP is a 1885 or 1888 it’s a little crusty, I’ll clean it up when it completely dries

Nice hunt. I am glad you got your shovel back. Hopefully, you made a positive impression on the lady of the land to get a return invitation.

Too bad the first place didn't pan out- I'm surprised but who knows what happened before you got there. Way to persevere and come away with some nice finds!
