Saber belt or knap sack button or not?

I found this within a few feet of where I found my confederate sword hanger.


While doing some research on the hanger, I came across a site that sells replica CW hardware and one of the items for sale is a saber belt or knap sack button that looks very much like what I have.

So, could this be such an item or is it just a rivet?

For some reason it reminds me of a Sling Button.

Pretty much could have been used for anything. Has the age no doubt but hard to tell.

Could be the rivet maybe holding the bayonet sheath or anything.

I often find these old homestead sites here in Ontario, the examples I find are likely horse harness/tack related.
As G.A.P.metal has already suggested, it's possibly a leather harness rivet, but it may also be "CW hardware"?
