First 179? Large cent from Illinois that I've found

The farmers have started harvesting the soy beans in my area and I couldn't wait to get back to swinging my D2 ! Found a few buttons and relics but not much until I hit a 97 to 99 high tone and I knew it would be a large cent but never thought it would be from the 1700s here in Illinois. About the only thing that I could make out is most of the date.

You’re in a great spot at the junction of the IL and Miss Rivers. The rivers were the roads not only for Indians but the earliest settlers too.

Congrats on that nice old LC from Illinois. My oldest coin from Illinois is an 1804 Half Cent. I haven't broken into the 1700's yet.

Cleaned her up some with a Andeas pen and can make out the date better 1798
