S mint Kennedys

You may want to look a bit closer at those coins. The fields will be shinier and the details are cleaner.
Almost all of the S mint marked coins after 1968 are proofs.

There is one that I know of that isn't and that is a 1998 S that came in a special set with the RFK Dollar.

That one is verry special as there were only a few made. It has a matte surface just like a regular coin but is silver like the 64.

Watch for it

Not really sure what you mean. A "burr" arround the edge? Is a picture possible?

A Burr would be a raised feather of metal around the outside edge...see detail

I only ask because I thought that Proof coins were meant to be "perfect".
Thanks for that bit of info OD....it could come in reaaalll handy!

If the "raised rim" occurs around the edge of the proof then that is a characteristic of the proof strike. Proofs are struck at least twice to create strong details.
