RUNDOWN!

I'm guessing you have no manual. ;D You can go to Whites web site and down load one. There is also a forum that is for MXT users. If I new how I'd give you a link. Google Finds Treasure Forums. Click on the first one. Scroll down till you find MXT user forum. Also try to find MXT FAQ's. It's somewhere here in cyber space. I used it more than the manual when I first started using my MXT. But the manual is good to have. You can also get the engineers report off of Whites web site too.
The gain IS your sensitivity. You'll learn to ignore the little icons. Focus on VDI numbers. I search almost exclusively in relic mode, Disc set at just below first preset, trigger in center position, gain cranked as high as I can get it and still have an even threshold and no overload signals. After ground balancing I set to LOCK. To sart with you might want to keep the gain set at preset. Until you get used to it a little. The MXT is more powerful than your Prizm was. It will be noisier. More chatter. What ever you want to call it. It does not "lock" on to a VDI like your prizm would. Except for targets less than say four inches. Depending on ground mineralization and nearby trash. The MXT does not average its readings. Every swing of the coil over a target will give you new info. Too many swings with the auto trac on and the MXT will actually trac out the target. Get a smaller coil as soon as you can.
I could go on and on but I need to get back to work. You got a really good detector. But it will take more time to learn and get used to than the Prizm. Have fun and feel free to e-mail me any time if you have any questions.

I have an manual its just my detctor hasnt come yet, it should be here in two days.
