I have been using this scoop for over 3 years. I am not sure of the exact RTG model, but it has worked well. I definitely do not baby it, and probably am a little bit rough with it. I had hit a target and began to scoop and felt resistance, and pried a little too much…..turns out the target was a buried metal pole/stake, probably for an umbrella, and my RTG broke.

Luckily I had bought two when I bought this one. I use this scoop 80% in the sand, 10% in the wet and 10% in the water

This was my RTG 6" SS Tipped with gran handle and only 7 months old. The grab handle I really didn't use that much and was the weak link. It was only used approx 10-15 times when this happened. I used large tubing cutter and trimmed ends off square. Then I used a 6" long 3/4 SS pipe nipple that I inserted into each end and cross drilled a 1/4" hole for SS hardware. Wahla an instant travel scoop! I later sold it and am now using the little pro mini or an 8" T-Rex. I found the big RTG to be harder to dump out when wet sand hunting than the T-Rex style scoop and many times I would have to grab the back brace on scoop to shake wet sand out.

I've found my large aluminum scoop to be harder to push into wet sand , like you get extra resistance from the aluminum , my stainless RTG although heavier doesn't have the same issue and dumps faster too! 7 yrs on my SS RTG no probs

Stainless steel.
Trent, did you have that custom made? I ask because they don't have that scoop on their web site. They have one exactly like it in aluminum. All of their stainless scoops have round braces. Im confused.

No, I didn't have it custom made. The reason that you are confused is that I AM A FREAKING MORON. It is aluminum, I just looked at the website. When I went in there I saw this scoop and knew thats what I wanted. I just assumed it was stainless steel. A real man would have known just by looking at it. But this is me that we are talking about. I'm surprised that my wife hasn't left me. I blame my daddy for leaving when I was I was just a toddler. I am sorry that I have tangled you up in my web of idiocy Lookindown. Didn't last very long. 3 months maybe. My RTG SS. Its a beast but I love it.
I have that same chicken wire scoop I bought from RTG about 20 years ago that I only use on Volleyball courts or VERY dry sand. Bought the 6" Aluminum Pro Beach like yours in March when I got back into hunting and it is GREAT in the wet sand and surf. I attached a rare earth in the bottom to keep any iron in check. GL and HL

Also, thanks for staying classy when you KNEW that it was aluminum and letting me call myself an idiot. It softened the blow. Well played by a true gentleman. Lol.

Wasn't meant in a negative way. Just an educational way. Then I got interrupted during the post. They don't like when we are T netting it. Until we bring home gold and diamonds.
Don't take it the wrong way brother.

I'll take being ignored over being picked on!

Take the broken one to any shop and have them weld a piece of stainless tubing over the break. Won't take more than five minutes and it will be stronger than it was before it broke.

ROFL....I read that and starting saying, ""Hey, that's me and my wife!!!" ha ha ha ha

Hey, we all have made mistakes...Ive done a lot sillier things than misidentifying a scoop...your a stand up guy for admitting it...don't worry about it.

Easy dude!

Hey Penzfan
I apologize if I offended you as that wasn't my intention. I quess I should watch what I say and the way I say it. Haven't spoken to you before via Tnet and don't want to get off on the wrong foot here with anyone. Unless it's not a reale posting or something like that. Again I apologize. I reread that post and it sounded wrong. I was distracted during the post and didn't mean to be an a hole.
Good luck to you.

No offense taken lir. We all have bad moments and the good Lord knows I've had my share. It's a good hearted person that can own up to and admit a mistake. Enjoy your evening...
