RR Station Whatzit

Hello from FL. I found this at a 1900's RR station. It is brass and has no ID markings on it.

It looks kinda heavy duty for it but maybe it's a curtain rod holder?

Agree. Wall mount of some kind... lamp, clock, sign... Hard to say exactly what, but it is an awesome piece.

Any old photos of the inside of the station? They might yield a clue.

Hello All. Thanks for the replies and guesses as to the intended use of this item.

It seems too heavy duty for a lamp mount (brass base is 3/32-IN thick) and when it set against the ceiling you cannot see the decoration on the knob.

I may go back today to see if there are more clues in the ground. HH. C9
