Had a great time hunting a new site that had a homestead that had burned to the ground. The intensity of the fire was evident on some of the buttons and artifacts found. Some were completely black coated and melted. The window glass found was badly scorched on one side giving testament of the heat. The field was freshly plowed and disced. I was fortunate to break my five year drought finding my second Rev button. I did not realize what I had dug at the time. It had a thick black coating on it and it went into my pouch. When I started cleaning some of the caked on dirt and black soot from the button a crown appeared, I had one of those wonderful moments. The Royal Provincial button was a beaut and surprisingly intact except for the shank, thank you metal detecting gods. The 1787 New Jersey copper came out looking good except for the light plow strike, and some possible heat damage on the reverse. Have at it Don, the ears are pointing at the A... The 1787 Conneticut copper came out looking very good. It was great finding the CT, and the NJ copper from both of my home states. Also included in the mix was a very fried Vermont copper, a few large cents, A King George, 1st 1723, 2nd, and a 177? 3rd. A 1782 1/2 reale, 1858 flying eagle one cent, and a few Indians. The mechanical watch winder is sweet, after a short soak and a little work its back again, one of my favorites. There were many smalls found. Looking forward to the field settling in. Hopefully in the Fall its signal city... Art

Now that's an fantastic hunt…an RP…seen tons of them dug but only have a partial one myself….I have a 2nd American with iron shank…but most likely you are lucky there is no shank as it might have rotted out the pewter….getting my blood going for another hunt…Congrats

Should be a Maris 38-z very scarce. Obverse of the M-38c but your reverse matches the 38-z. Both have the same obverse. Will wait on Don in SJ to confirm. For a second there I thought you had the VERY RARE 38-b. Congratulations on some real nice coins! Hogge OOPS!:BangHead:......Did I forget the RP button......my bad!:occasion14:

Gonna take a guess at the Conn. Either M. 11.1-E or 11.2-K. Hogge

graet hunt you had there.

I found a NJ copper recently but your is WAY better. Mine's the same year but you can't read the date; too toasty.

Congrats on an amazing haul of loot.

Outstanding hunt. :occasion14: So many cool relics and old coins, I wouldn't know where to start.

I know how you feel.

Man!
A heck of a hunt a little of everything.
Like the Winder A-lot myself.
& That poor (scared looking Turtle) Is it a Box Turtle?
I have a thing for turtles, almost gave my life/ car to save a few that were crossing the Road over the years.
Also take pictures of them when I see them in the Woods.
Davers

Thanks everyone for your replies and IDs. And yes it is a box turtle. They were everywhere digging holes laying there eggs, including the snapping turtles. They were oblivious to me swinging my coil right past them.

Art are you kidding me! That was an amazing hunt! The RP is a beauty as are the NJ and CT. The suspender clips seem a little out of place with all the 18th century material, but I still love to dig them. Love the watch winder too. I have only ever found one of that type. Looks like you have yourself another field of dreams!

Hello artyfacts. Wow! Very nice hunt. Looks like many holes dug with great results. Ya gotta love a hunt like that one. HH C9

What a day for sure. The location sure helped that button out a lot.
