Round ball?

Was detecting a house from the mid 1800's and dug this at 7 inches deep. Is this a round ball? It has a little weight to it.

Please tell us where you found the relic and include a common object in the pic so we may judge the size.

As you can imagine, speculation on it's origin will be considerably different if it is the size of a bowling ball and found in South Africa versus the size of a golf ball and found in Virginia... We get all kinds from all places on this forum.

If that is rust on it then maybe some type of grapeshot etc?... depending on size. To me the picture does not appear to be lead.
