I only worked a few hours today. What work I had to get done was in VA. near the lake. I headed down to where the rivers meet but got distracted along the way. I passed over a creek named big buffalo creek. I stopped there to hunt a while and found a tip to a point and this, what I believe to be a game stone of some kind. I have a friend that has a discoidal made of the same light weight stuff.

Also found this clay or pottery that reminds me of trade pipe material. It's pretty thick. That's the problem with it.

I headed on down the road until I found this guy!

Come to find out, I didn't find him at all. He wasn't lost. With that, I snapped a pic, and on to the rivers. The rivers are down and I thought I could walk out onto an island in between the two. Wrong! I looked like a weeble-wobble stuck in mud up to my knees. I hunted the bank and exposed river bottom. There I found these pestles

I'm glad he told me. I would have been proud of my game stone. Would have made yet another ass of me self.
Dont feel bad I thought I had a cone for a long time till someone told me what they were and i found another miles away an same exact size an material. from what I understand they were used as insulators in old coffee pots hot plates etc.Ive found them with holes drilled into them also.

Monkey's uncle. Thanks Bird Cloud. I would never have guessed that an answer would be found for this one. Thanks!! This one was in a creek. What were they for? What is the modern day replacement?

that's exactly what i thought it was the first time i looked at it

thanks paleo for the extra images

Gosh darn it. I was so excited and hoped was an artifact.

Me to. But, I'm even happier to have it's true identity. Thanks for rooting for me bro!
