✅ SOLVED Rosette? Familiar pattern

Just found this and I suspect a rosette. The pattern on it is familiar to me but I can't place it in memory.
Its surprisingly heavy for it's size. Looks like brass? The back looks similar to the back on my civil war breast plate! Maybe some lead on the back?

It having a raised part in the center , makes me think that there is a threaded hole in the back. That leads me to believe that it is a cabinet/door/drawer, etc. knob/pull.

I did think that also, but there is no screw hole. Not even a corroded one. I scratched the back and it appears to be silvery in color. I suspect lead. Like I said, its strangely heavier than expected.

This type of design has been around since Roman, and the Han Dynasty.
All a tad different but similar in style.
So through the decades of life we gather the similar, and now it digs at the thought process of it looks familiar.

That's all I have, so I'm going with this one.🤣

Its just a rather nice, old rosette!

Worth it to check, that's all.

But maybe someone can help me with what this type of backing is, and used on this and the civil war breast plate I found. I mean did they stick these things on with some sort of lead paste? Melted lead? Why do they look like gravely cement?

The backings tend to crumble, as yours is getting bubbles.
So it's not pure lead, but more of a pewter content.

the back is solder which has lead in it. pure lead will remain smooth and not show crumbling . civil war union plates are also solder filled not pure lead.
