My farmer has given me a new field, so today I decided to give it an hour or so to see what was on there. As with a lot of my fields this one is still stubble, this time barley stubble but beggars can't be choosers so off I went. The nose cone from an Anti Aircraft round gave me a bit of a surprise, I might clean it up and use it as a paper weight :laughing7:. There was a lot of lead and a few other bits and pieces, then came the hammer head, another paper weight :tongue3:. Heading back towards my bag, and eventually my dinner, I got a real good signal and found a very nice Roman. I haven't identified it yet, and the pics don't do it justice ( I will take better pics in daylight tomorrow) :thumbsup:

I am no expert in this type of coins but I think .... :icon_scratch:
Maximin Daza, year 308 /313AD .
Legend in front: GAL.VAL MAXIMINIVS NOB.CAES.
In reverse: CAESARIS GENIUS, in exergue ?

Hi Dave, the nose cone was pointing straight up and I thought , just for a second, is it complete :tongue3:, then in true detector spirit, I thought "what the heck, let's just dig" :laughing7:. The glass stopper only showed because it still had it's metal cap on, still with a lion or something showing :thumbsup:

Cru'Dad says H is right :hello2: with;

Maximinus II as Caesar AD 305-308 Follis with Obv GAL VAL MAXIMINVS NOB C and Rev GENIO POPVLI ROMANI. Sears(88) 3754, like Trier mint RIC VI 650 (genius naked type which is rare as the loin cloth type is common)

PS. I love Barley Stubble & by now (being the first crop off), it must be lovely to work (unless the weeds are up). You should get great depth in those conditions.

Those are great finds, That's a dream i have is someday mding England. I love Roman England history, and English history.

So, You got a Trier minted roman... :icon_scratch: We are trying to get new roman fields just to see the coins minted around the corner are now in UK... :tongue3:
Congrats on a nice Follie.

It's a best guess as the mint is not clear.

That is a Nice Roman Coin Hammered . Some day I hope to get over there and find one myself. That is about the only way I will ever get one .
Looks like you might have a good field where you are now. Good luck and hope you find more great items.

Much better for the mint info.

Dad looked at it & now thinks:
PLN for London and therefore RIC Vol VI 57 :icon_thumright:
