where are you, where was it found
not sure we can help due to the small shards you have posted
I don't see anything that might help you
maybe see if the shards of pottery go together
any ink on the pieces?

The pictures are not really big enough, but I would hazzard a guess at yes, Roman. A few pieces do look like samian ware.
