Roman oil lamp?

Just picked this up but don't know how to go about identifying its age or if it is very old. Just discovered this site. I love it

Can you shine a light on the inside to see if it has the same aged looking patina on the inside as it does on the outside.
 

I do believe it is a modern replication, due to the grinding marks on this lip of the opening. Notice the lack of the overall patina from the rest of the surface. I think it's wonderful piece nonetheless. I like the old ways of artificial illumination. I burn either a candle or oil lamp every morning before the sun comes up. I don't like to waist the early morning hours with Edisons idea.

Can you tell us more?
Thrift shop, yard sale, USA, Europe, etc.
