As our options are so poor right now I decided to brave the ankle breaker which they are leaving over Winter & will drill a Spring crop.
It's only a 7 inch turn, some places are bad & others have fallen a little flatter. After 6 hours of gridding the good & bad my feet & ankles hurt a little from all the tripping & twisting but it was well worth it. Cru'dad helped for just over 2 hours.
Weather was T-Shirt kind of day, in the middle of Oct!8-)

37 Roman Coins
Pot Shards
Animal Teeth
Metal Working pieces
Fossil
3 Hobnails
Tudor Clothes Fastener
Roman Ring Key combo (Never had a complete one yet!)
Complete large Roman Hair Pin - great survivor.

I don't know how are english laws but you can really go on a hunt in a antique site without any trouble?
In France, it's forbidden and it can go up to a seven-year prison sentence (and a 200,000 Euros fee).
We have the fairest Laws in Europe. We work with the Archies, not against them. As long as I have an agreement with the Land-Owner & its not a protected site, I can legally detect.

So to answer your question, yes we can do it with no trouble. We have never been in trouble with the Law.

Great finds!I can only dream of roman artifacts...Thanks for posting...HH

Always such great finds...and I get just as excited with so much less in my find pouch :)

Impressive ! Unfortunately I can only dream of such great laws in France. Relations between detectors users and archies are very tense and difficult.

Great finds you had btw.

Yes I understand that.
We still have some old barriers to break down but most of the Archies I work with see the benefits. We have contributed as a group, about 30,000 UK detectorist more than they have in terms of finding the sites & recording the metal finds.
