With the lack of trash we have covered a record 30 acres systematically in 5 days, only 1 day left & we have done as much as is needed. (speed is important to us, fast is good ) The last day maybe a blank, but we need to be sure the area finishes where we expect.
Yesterday was only a 3 hour hunt & today was a 5 hour session.

21 Roman Bronze Coins
6 Roman Bronze Coins
Our first 4 buttons - 1 17th C example
Roman Lead Steelyard Weight
Roman Ring Bezel
6th C Saxon Brooch piece - surprise! 8-)
1560-61, 2nd issues, Elizabeth I Penny, much larger example than the clipped one in the book, & my best example.:icon_thumright:

Lots of detail on this tiny silver! :icon_thumleft: Saxon as well on this site, can't wait to see what more turns up there.

Sadly, not much else until another year, we have covered 95% of the area. We will however extend out into no-mans land just to check the limits but we are only likely to get 1 or 2 more keepers.

Coins added to top.

Whoa! Cru - What a day! Great Lizzie, scrappies, and flat button. Too bad you're 95% finished, but I know you'll soon be onto another great area soon. Congrats again on the great Elizabeth the 1st

Cheers

Steve

2 days.

Sadly after this field, there will be no other sites like this until next harvest.

Killer finds as always Crusader. You guys should host your own "Treasure Hunting the Countryside" Tours....you would have people lined up to hunt at your side willing to pay a pretty penny! :)

Best of luck on the next field.

The tour bit would be fine, its just the paperwork to export thats the pain. Plus never been that interested in the 'pretty penny' unless I dug it.

Woo-Hoo! (as they say in Scotland :laughing7: ) Outstanding hammered silver coinage of museum quality. More goodies for the albums.
Congratulations, you've earned them!

Cheers, we are lucky to scratch our brains and try & remember a 'bad day detecting'.

Super Silver !

"Steelyard" It is amazing that they were making high quality steel (as opposed to iron) so long ago. History is cool, you are living the dream uncovering so much of it.
Good luck out there.
