Hello
Iam an American living in Germany in a town that was a Roman Settlement, that is why I can only guess this is Roman.
This is not a metal detector find but I found it at a flea market in a pile of absolute unrelated junk which appeared t be a freshly cleared estate,I paid 2 euros.
I specialize in Imperial and 2nd World war German militaria and have no idea what this is but when I seen it I got that warm fuzzy feeling.
It is encrusted in a coral type of shell but in 2 spots that has broken away and the bare clay is peeking through.
This is the only forum I can find online that might be able to give me a clue.
Thank You
