So I figure I would just start a thread for this. One of the other threads I started "uranium salt" had a request to post some pics.

The story is that my wife's Grandfather, who is now passed, was a rock hound on another level for decades! Over the last few years my interest in geology and rock hounding has suprised the heck out of me.. Mainly due to my wifes family and mostly the Grandfather. Well over thirty years ago, from my understanding, a large portion of his collection was kept in a barn. Long story short..the barn burned down. He was able to salvage some and he dumped a lot in the property. Thirty years or so later I found the dump site. The pics I will be posting in this thread will be of the material that I have gathered so far and somewhat cleaned up.. There's way too much to post pics of so I will try to post some of everything but not all! lol..Please enjoy the pics, chime in on identification and feel free to ask as I do have some of the material identified..

Chris

Grampie, as he was called, had a very nice and large rock room..he collected material all over the place for decades. the material that made the shelves in the rock room were the prime pieces.. a bunch of stuff that was still awesome and rare at times ended up in piles outside or in buckets for family members to dig through and look at and possible take home..

5th picture, is that mushroom rhyolite?
3rd from the last some sort of dendritic agate?

So sorry for such a late reply!

The fifth "picture" is a rough graphite specimen I believe. It leaves a streak similar to that of a pencil on white paper and has a metallic look to it.

The fifth "specimen" is a fossil if something like algae..

The third to last pic you guessed correctly..
