Robert Morriss - 1863...

Let's "see"... JB Ward was the AGENT for the author of the BEALE PAPERS ("BP"); JB's COUSIN, FC Hutter (CSA) was the AUTHOR of the "BP". Robert MORRISS was just an "actor" (non-existent), who "put together" a story on the Beale Expedition (?!?) to "cover up" the REAL story of REBEL "assets" being buried WEST of Lynchburg, Va. (in the mountains) and POSSIBLY NORTHWEST and in SOUTH-side VIRGINIA. Looking at HISTORY... FORGETTING BC # 1 & BC # 3. MORE, later.

The problem here is that by producing the cover up story, as you suggest, they have in fact created suspicion, just as you suspect so would have others, especially if they already suspected the presence of a hidden fortune. It would equate to tossing the tuna to the cat, would it not? i.e., why create a cover story to something that is already a well kept secret? Why risk drawing attention?

Could have been.......But could a Reb help a Yank in this case??? I was under the impression that the Confederate War was the Civil War, is that right? And who was Charles Morriss in that area?

HH Tat

P.S. Im back, morecouch research lol:thumbsup:

The People who live in The South like to call the the Civil War, "the Confederate War" or the "War of Norther Aggression." Don't take that stuff too seriously... The Civil war is the more historically accurate term since it describes what happened without putting a current judgement on the roll of each side.

Where did all of my post go to? Have they been erased?

Anyway's Robert Morris of Lynchburg, Virginia was the son of John Morris. He had a twin brother named John Morris, Jr. and an older brother by the name of Governor Morris. He was four years older than Robert and John. Maybe someone can find something on his father in Maryland?

HA! YOU deleted a lot of 'em, yourself...
Robert MORRIS, the mayor of Lynchburg, Va., then...? THANKS! WILL look into it... :icon_thumleft:

FC HUTTER was a MAJOR in the War Dept. of the Confederate Gov't; PAYROLL Dept. Signed first check for Gen. Robert E, Lee? After the CW, worked for IR L'burg, Va. (COLLECTOR - Internal Revenue, 12th District of Penn. 1873-1876). HA!
MORE, later...

To find "it" (Beale Treasure/CSA Treasury for WESTERN portion of VIRGINIA), again...?

Per "Post" # 23... Robert Morris, Sr. (1711-1750)...? (DOI Guy...?). MAYBE, connected to the MORRIS INN in Oxford, MD... dunno.
