i am going to Florida for 5 days can i take my detector on an airplane do i have to check with the airline and is it safe or is it a after Christmas present for baggage handlers or its no problem iam leaving Thursday

I've read a million times here that folks have NO issue carrying or checking the detectors...

I would be tempted to buy a cheap one there , keep the packing and send it home Fed Ex or UPS when I left.
But that's me , I need a spare anyhow and don't like the Airport hassle. No two are the same and they bend the regs. GNewt

Flew Delta with my DFX in hard case this last Sept. Carried it on board. Atlanta and Tampa had me open it up myself to check out plastic trowels. Left Lesche digging tool at home. Supervisor said if ithe trowels were metal they would of taken them. Otherwise they had no problem. If you do it, carry it on board and you will be alright.

Had no trouble in Atlanta or Orlando , not much in Baltimore, however New York, Boston and Newark were a nightmare. I was wearing a Federal name tag with my picture,also had a retired military ID card and they put me through the mill. Took my shoes off so they could check the heels.
I have not had the pleasure of flying any more. Besides you see more driving. Just watch out for them terrorists on the interstates. TH the rest stops if you can.
