Any helpl at all in identifing this ring will be greatly appreciated. Its a 10k 1956 womans ring I think its a highschool ring....but not sure. It has the letters N.D. on the front and the words "home of the game around it under the cross with the N.D.. It also has the letters H.S.between home of and the game. The name O'Neil co. is also on the inside.
The ring was found on the shore of Lake Wylie S.C.

It's definately a high school graduation ring, but I have no idea as to which school the N.D. refers to. Did you find it in South Carolina, or some other state?

Are you sure it says "Home of the game"?

I can only see three letters before the word "of"--and I can't read the rest...

That may be the only way to find this High School--because the O'Neil Co. has been out of business for years, it seem. :-\

Those are colleges, and not high schools. It says H.S. on the ring.

Nebstater, I realized that they were Colleges. But they also could have been a high school within North Dakota or a Notre Dame anywhere I suppose in the world. I was just throwing out ideas.

Respectfully,

Scott

I believe BC is on the right track but I believe your ring is from one of the many Notre Dame High Schools in the U.S. The markings inside the ring are from the U.S. A U.K. gold ring would be marked 585 instead of 14k. That is how they mark their gold for 14k. They have a completly different marking system. Also in Europe, you will see a counter stamp on the ring from a jeweler who confirmed the gold content. I don't believe U.K. schools would order rings from the U.S. also.

There are many Notre Dame High Schools in the U.S. Some of them are specifically for girls but some are co-ed. I did a quick search and found a couple with your general logo but not the exact motto underneath. You may want to search further to see what you can find in the U.S. with that motto.

Good Luck

I had a feeling its not over Chief because I cannot connect the motto on the ribbon underneath. Maybe our UK members could answer if the ring could be made in the US for a UK school. I quit searching the American schools because the logos didnt match but further search revealed that you are correct, that some of them are very similar.

If you could make out the words, hikermike, we could google it. Could it be STAR OF THE SEA? or STAR OF THE SUN?

There is a link on the Mary, Star of the Sea, site. It is called Sisters of Notre Dame. Could be linked to that.

I found that the Mary Star of the Sea H.S plays Notre Dame H.S. but couldnt find another connection. Could you post the link you found making this connection please?

OK I see thanks. There are many links making this connection and the Sisters of Notre Dame have started many Star of the Sea high schools in different states. I think the ID can only be made with a matching 1956 logo.

I conclude that it is a 1956 class ring from Star of the Sea High School started by the Sisters of Notre Dame. Good call Frogwizard, but from what state?

BigCy, I believe the Mary Star of the Sea school was in Massachusetts. I got the link from there.
