The same 20 x 20 spot that gave up two rings yesterday yielded two more today. Once again, one is sterling (the big one with astrological signs), and the other is probably junk (pending an acid test). Also got a stack of clad quarters, a junk earring, and a buckle that I strongly suspect is modern. Also an old-ish copper thing that looks like it might be a plate that would go over a skeleton-key lock...?

Also, today I noticed that a few holes I had filled yesterday were dug up again today as though I had never filled them. This has happened a couple of times. It's not forgetfulness -- I definitely fill the holes every time. Do you think little critters dig them up at night for some reason? :icon_scratch:

Thanks for looking! HH

Nice silver. And ya critters can smell you

Wow,nice haul!. Not sure who is redigging, sguirrels will lift a plug. One place i hunted i had to look close to see dirt "raked"one direction away from small holes where skunks dug for grubs.

..How did you get permission to hunt a cemetery:icon_scratch: I've been "dying" to hunt 1 next to my house.lol

Well, if they're looking for grubs they came to the right place. The soil is thick with them. I think they're probably from a brood of 17-year cicadas that I heard are emerging this year around here.

It's almost like a little silver fairy comes at night and leaves goodies in the old holes. LOL

Nice finds!

I ran into this uncovering of holes just recently. I'd never noticed before because I didn't usually go back to the same place for very long. But, since I started truly stomping my plugs back into place, TIGHT, I've not seen another one displaced. To think, all this time we detectorists have been getting a bad rap. Don't just replace. Lock them back in place! :)

Forgot to include this in today's finds, which is a first for me: a tiny restroom token

I've been "dying" to hunt 1 next to my house.lol" posted by silversurfer -- I don't think rastinirv meant a human cemetery, but rather that his spot seems like a cemetery for rings since he found four rings there.
I found the same tiny "Help Keep our Restrooms Clean" token this month in an old park here in California. Was hoping to find nice Indian Head cent like my son had dug the week before but the tiny token was a groovy "booby prize". Andi

You're correct, g-olden years. It seems like a place where rings go to die and bury themselves.

Nice going on the ring :icon_thumleft: As far as the grub in the plug thing goes-try throwing the free lunch out of the hole/plug onto the turf where Ricky the raccoon or the skunk can have a free snack and leave the plugs alone. A good stomping helps keep the plug in, and the night critters go on to easier diggings.

I know one of my dogs loves to dig my holes for some reason and for some reason they love to smell my hands after a dig

Happy Hunting!
