MDing as usual on Saturday...went to an abandoned house which I'd hit before a few times, but noticed it now had a NO TRESPASSING sign on it...darn! So I went down the road a little to the right of way near some RR tracks and there were some large trees there. Started MDing near the old trees and after about 10 minutes looked down and saw these 5 rings on top of the ground--partially hidden by some tree debris. Cool. Nice find. Turns out 2 are marked 925(including the big one on the right). The school ring is marked Saladium--not worth much. I suspect the smallest one is SS. And the smaller gold one looks to be costume jewelry. Nice find as it has been a while since I'd found anything worth posting. I will eventually try and find the owner of the school ring. The big yellow ring marked 925 weighs 13.4g and still has a price tag on it, marked "$180 retail $90 Net". Stones must be worth something at that price. Not sure why they are lying on top of the ground....anyone's guess. First ring cache. HH

Very strange indeed!

Wondering whether these were part of a burglary and tossed when they weren’t of great value. It would be great if you could find the class ring owner and find out the real story.

Sounds like a classic theft where the non-gold rings were tossed by the thief. The owner of the class ring can probably confirm. Nice find and best wishes in terms of attempting to contact the owner.

Very cool - congrats !
Stolen and dropped in the getaway ?

Probably a toss of stolen jewelry.

Query: Why didn't you hunt the first site still?

It's just if you had permission in the first place the signage would not pertain to you detecting at the site.

Bingo! They were either stashed there to be retrieved later or hurriedly dropped in an effort to distance the thief from the stolen goods. I’d contact the local police to inquire about recent burglary reports.

I agree, probably stolen and tossed. How many people still carry a ring around with the price tag on it ? Still, a neat find.

It should be obvious that he was trespassing on prior hunts.
