I purchased this button from a fellow in Canada. Before doing so, I did a little checking on it. It does show up on the net in a reenactors website as being the kind used at the Battle of Saratoga. They were there under Maj. Griffith William, who was under Burgoyne.
Please help ID the date. The button weighs 1.5 grams and is 17 mm in diameter. Front is what looks to be pewter.

This Artillery Unit was originally raised in Dublin Ireland in 1756.
They officially disbanded in 1801.
