Hey guys,

With the weather finally warming back up I hit a few Revolutionary War hot spots that have produced some incredible pewter buttons in the past. The first find was a oval cuff with a subdued 19 still visible inside a small diamond. This cuff was found next to a 19th Regiment of Foot button dug earlier this year. The prize of the day though had to be an even rarer, scissor cast pewter P N button. These buttons are attributed with the southern campaign are still a bit of a mystery. Some have speculated that the P N cast on the back of these buttons stood for Patria Novia or "New Homeland", serving as a covert means of identifying the wearer as patriot.

After switching sites, I linked up with Gheenoe78 try our hand at a War of 1812/ Civil War battery location. The top finds were a Revolutionary War period, decorative pewter shoe buckle and a stunning pewter 1812 I button. A nearby homestead site also produced a pocket watch, thimble, door lock and knob, as well as a lock and chain...fresh out of electrolysis and a hot wax treatment. Also managed to spot a 18th century stub clay pipe! Quite a week- thanks for looking!

Awesome finds! The British were up my way for three long years, but finding pewter regiment buttons is no easy task. Congrats on some killer button finds.
