The 1978 class ring I found and posted in “I Found Another Gold Ring Today” and gave more info in “I FINALLY FOUND HIM” was returned to its owner today!
I got a call from the owner today and he was driving up my way today to get his class ring. So he drove 3 hours and we met at a local business parking lot to return the ring. He was really happy to finally get it back. He said he had been thinking about when he lost the ring. It turns out he remembered that he was 15 and not 19 when he lost the ring. So it had been lost for 43 years before I found it. It fell off when he was playing football and he couldn’t find it. He had not had it long and I remember how easily my class ring came off when I first got mine. He thought someone had found it and taken it so he was not expecting it to be found.
He gave me permission to post his picture and he also arranged for me to metal detect in his mother in laws yard in a town about 10 miles from my home. In addition he wanted to give me a reward for returning the ring. I refused because I return things I find because it is the right thing to do not for a reward. However he would not take no for an answer and handed me a check for $100. I told him I would do what I have done before and donate the money to the local Boy Scouts.
So I am happy to finally give him his ring back. He is happy to get it back and the Boy Scouts will be happy with $100 donation. Everybody wins!
(Sorry the pictures are sideways. I am not sure how to fix this. Phone pictures act a little funny for some reason.)
As you can see from the second picture his finger has gotten a little larger in 43 years so I don’t think he will be wearing it.
Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
