The 1978 class ring I found and posted in “I Found Another Gold Ring Today” and gave more info in “I FINALLY FOUND HIM” was returned to its owner today!

I got a call from the owner today and he was driving up my way today to get his class ring. So he drove 3 hours and we met at a local business parking lot to return the ring. He was really happy to finally get it back. He said he had been thinking about when he lost the ring. It turns out he remembered that he was 15 and not 19 when he lost the ring. So it had been lost for 43 years before I found it. It fell off when he was playing football and he couldn’t find it. He had not had it long and I remember how easily my class ring came off when I first got mine. He thought someone had found it and taken it so he was not expecting it to be found.

He gave me permission to post his picture and he also arranged for me to metal detect in his mother in laws yard in a town about 10 miles from my home. In addition he wanted to give me a reward for returning the ring. I refused because I return things I find because it is the right thing to do not for a reward. However he would not take no for an answer and handed me a check for $100. I told him I would do what I have done before and donate the money to the local Boy Scouts.

So I am happy to finally give him his ring back. He is happy to get it back and the Boy Scouts will be happy with $100 donation. Everybody wins! :hello2:

(Sorry the pictures are sideways. I am not sure how to fix this. Phone pictures act a little funny for some reason.)

As you can see from the second picture his finger has gotten a little larger in 43 years so I don’t think he will be wearing it.

Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.

That’s awesome. I bet he was happy.

Congrats. Fantastic save and I am sure he is very happy. He drove a long way

I will say with rewards I have a different point of view. Your time, your research, your equipment all are valuable. I don't turn down anything anymore.

Been there,Great feeling as you do know :occasion14: Another happy customer!!

Good man. Good work.

I never return high school class rings everyone I know sold there’s years ago. Now I haven’t found a college ring, so I’m not sure if I would yet. But who knows I can always return them years from now and they’ll appreciate it just the same. I have options, but for now I love to look at them. But what a nice thing you to do. [emoji1360]

12 rings returned that’s incredible that you have found that many let alone found the owners and returned them to em. Where are you metal detecting at peoples bedrooms lol. Seriously though your a very unselfish person and you should be recognized as such. Good job

tnt-hunter nice job finding the ring and returning it to its owner. Congrats

pretty darn cool! awesome job too! HM for sure

Great story, thank you for sharing! :occasion14:

There is a lot to be said for returning special rings; good job!

My own, I lost, but I think it's somewhere in my parent's house.

That is awesome! I can't wait to find my first one that I can return. The places I metal detect, that might not happen anytime soon. Metal detecting in parks and around too many people makes me nervous.

Awesome return!! Well Done :headbang:

It is great to see that people still have integrity!

It's great to return a ring and I know the feeling, but, to return so many.... Great Karma to you, and giving the money to the scouts, is PRICELESS... Your a good man !!!

Great job in the rings returned
