Was swinging at lunch yesterday - under a big old live oak in between some of the massive roots I got a sweet signal - dug down 8" and pulled up an old tag for a dog named Charlie Brown. It had his name and the name and phone number of his owner - I though perhaps it may have been someone's childhood dog and they may want it back. I called - finally got ahold of the man today - He is an elderly gentleman in his 80's - He said the tag belonged to his dear bloved beagle he had 40 years ago and he was very delighted to know I had found this tag - returned it to him this evening. Man that feels good - He was so happy and began to tell me stories about the dog. You just never know the value people put on momento's - Been finding a lots of awsome stuff lately but none more pleasing than to be able to see the look on this man's face to get his dog's tag back after 40 years. Slight blurr in pic - sorry - MAN I JUST LOVE THIS HOBBY!

Very kind of you sir! Congratulations on a wonderful return! :icon_thumright:

That is a great story, but honestly the whole time i was reading it I kept waiting on the part where the man tells you he buried his beloved dog under a big live oak many years ago....

Hey Russdaddy - I thought the same thing but he said he had buried him in his back yard - glad he didn't start beating me with his cane and calling me a grave robber - LOL

I found a guy in France who is got my grandpas dog tags from WWII, my grandpa use to tell us about his time over in France. I have wrote the guy 10 times and at first he said he would send me his dog tag but he never did...:dontknow:

That is nice! I do the same thing. If a tag has enough info on it, I just get it back there. I tell them where it was found in case they're trying to figure out where the dog got lost. Good job!

One thing though, and I'm just thinking out loud, if I was to have something found with my name and address on it. I kind of think I might not like it posted on the net. Just a druther of my own.

Thanks for promoting what this hobby is REALLY about. Good job!

HH!
