All Treasure Hunting
Well the heat, the weeds and the bugs have taken over. I have personally witnessed the largest mosquitoes to date. A solid one inch long and built like tanks, betcha they would leave a nasty welt… I double sprayed… It is time to start my nighttime beach hunts, and research for new sites for the Fall. The last hunts were all short but the fields were still offering up sparse targets. One of the coolest of my finds was a little watch winder with a little integral thumb barrel for making shorter work of winding a watch. It is very neat seeing the simplicity of this little innovation. It must of made its way into many conversations being so new, progress. A very nice decorative silver colonial button. My first battered infantry button, this was a great surprise. Another small early navy button. The small lizard livery button had ringlets across the lizard but they fell off with a gentle cleaning. Three blowhole buttons. Two watch winders. Two broken arrow heads. A lead fist holding a scroll, it might of went to a statue of some knowledgeable distinction. I wonder if the rest of it went to making ball or fishing weights. Buckles, strap guides, ball, and littles. 1858 flying eagle cent, 1833 ½ cent. Draped bust 1/2 cent. Three large cent. Three coppers. C'mon Fall… Art

I think the fist is made of spelter & is late 19th C.

Definitely a lead fisty, soft and malleable. There was a school house very close by in the early to mid 19th C. I wonder if this scroll & fist was part of an award given to one of the students.
