All Treasure Hunting
Well the heat, the weeds and the bugs have taken over. I have personally witnessed the largest mosquitoes to date. A solid one inch long and built like tanks, betcha they would leave a nasty welt… I double sprayed… It is time to start my nighttime beach hunts, and research for new sites for the Fall. The last hunts were all short but the fields were still offering up sparse targets. One of the coolest of my finds was a little watch winder with a little integral thumb barrel for making shorter work of winding a watch. It is very neat seeing the simplicity of this little innovation. It must of made its way into many conversations being so new, progress. A very nice decorative silver colonial button. My first battered infantry button, this was a great surprise. Another small early navy button. The small lizard livery button had ringlets across the lizard but they fell off with a gentle cleaning. Three blowhole buttons. Two watch winders. Two broken arrow heads. A lead fist holding a scroll, it might of went to a statue of some knowledgeable distinction. I wonder if the rest of it went to making ball or fishing weights. Buckles, strap guides, ball, and littles. 1858 flying eagle cent, 1833 ½ cent. Draped bust 1/2 cent. Three large cent. Three coppers. C'mon Fall… Art

Flying eagle cent is always a welcome sight - tough find there ! I just went back and noticed the half cents
and large cents ! Any DB coins are a tough find too.

Outstanding finds artyfacts. Thanks for sharing...

Lot of treasure for a days work

I LOVE those buttons!

That is a really cool watch wonder. I'm glad those fields are still giving up the goods.

Awesome hunt! How do you suppose so much stuff ended up in that field? You guys have found so much stuff there it's incredible. I love to know how to find a field that will produce like that one.

The watch winder is like the missing link of watch winders.

The fields have not been turned as of yet, this Fall ought to be a huge winter of fun. I have pulled over fifty large and coppers from these fields, it was a hub of activity that is a once in a life time kind of place. I mapped out this site three years ago. The very first find was a 1831 counterfeit cap and rays and a hand full of buttons. I knew with all the mapping I had done that there was more to the site and went back this year and we are all still in shock as to the level of finds.

arty , glad to see the kool stuff you find .

That field has been a small gold mine , keep hitting it !

Thats cool you pick up the arrowheads while using the MD. I take my MD when I go but I always end up looking for stone in the end.

I'm with you, I love finding arrowheads.

Sweet finds! Congrats and HH!

Wow Art, I am amazed that you are still able to hunt that field this time of year! You pulled a lot of neat finds these last few hunts, especially some cool buttons. I can't wait to see what comes up after the soil is turned.

Thanks Steve, Yes it has come to an overgrown end. The fields are going to be awsome this Fall. Did you get your op yet? Hope everything is good with you.
