We have been keeping this field in reserve as it will be free to search all winter. We started by snaking throw the Roman Site to see how many coins were left & then we went onto the Saxon Brooch area which only really needs the edges doing but we thought we would go over the whole lot for a 3rd time.

On the edge where we hadn't done we got the 2 Saxon Brooches:
AMAZING - Small-long Brooch 6th C (my first of this type)
Botton section of a Cruciform Brooch (horse head) 5th-6th C - 5th C stuff is a hard target to hit!

Also:
Hammered crockard of Gui of Collemede (1296 - 1306), Bishop of Cambrai, in France! Rated as scarce & in nice condition. Another first!
My first Queen Anne 6 pence (love token)
8 Roman Coins
Livery button
& bits...

Tomorrow will be a bit tougher.:hello:

the stuff you find amazes me. so much history in your country

More cool artifacts and coins - WTG!

Again........ U DA MAN....... hard to believe the stuff you find. Congrats:icon_thumleft:

What a great day of finds, the real nice Romans along with the hammered, as I'm liking the heavy strike showing the long cross right through the coin. Nice going on the Queen Anne as anything dug in her reign seems to be shy.

I just had a look at what a horse head brooch looked like complete and that would be an amazing find. The small-long brooch is an amazing piece a real sweet find for sure.

Did you get a reply on the silver seal?

I'm still waiting for the answer on the seal & will update that post as soon as I get it.

Seeing your finds now for several years , I too am continually stunned at the date range and the quality of them ! that hammered is CHOICE !

Can't believe that you got two Saxon brooches in one hunt... Nice hammered!
