We have been keeping this field in reserve as it will be free to search all winter. We started by snaking throw the Roman Site to see how many coins were left & then we went onto the Saxon Brooch area which only really needs the edges doing but we thought we would go over the whole lot for a 3rd time.
On the edge where we hadn't done we got the 2 Saxon Brooches:
AMAZING - Small-long Brooch 6th C (my first of this type)
Botton section of a Cruciform Brooch (horse head) 5th-6th C - 5th C stuff is a hard target to hit!
Also:
Hammered crockard of Gui of Collemede (1296 - 1306), Bishop of Cambrai, in France! Rated as scarce & in nice condition. Another first!
My first Queen Anne 6 pence (love token)
8 Roman Coins
Livery button
& bits...
Tomorrow will be a bit tougher.
