restoring spearpoints

Don't do it! Even tho they are broken it could still have a great story behind it! Missed the deer and hit a tree! Missed a man trying to still his food hit a rock! They are beautiful broken or whole!

I know several guys who do it and done it myself. You can probably get a demonstration of it on Youtube. Good Luck to You.

Welcome to TN Paleodog. Good to have another hunter from Southwest Georgia here. :icon_thumright:

Post some pictures of what you want to have restored?

I know a guy here in Florida That does an amazing job. Here is his website If you would think about Having someone else do it for you. Click on restored when in the artifact section to see some of his work. Here is the link.. www.paleoenterprises.com and welcome.

Yep a lot do restore points. The price depends on how much is missing. I have seen some done in perfection by professionals. I have never had it done yet I guess cause I havent really found a good one yet. But If I ever did find a great one I would consider it.

Problem is many if not most end up being put up for sale as authentic at some point down the road. Once restored it is no longer original or authentic.

If someone sells artifacts and has a single restored artifact I would never buy anything from them.

I didnt know that. Thanks TH for that info. I have only seen them done on the web and not in person.

I don't intend to sell them or misrepresent anything.

I know you said that and I believe you, but things happen down the road we don't for see, you no longer own them, you suddenly pass away and wife doesn't want them, they get stolen and sold.....I am just saying a lot of restored points get sold as genuine authentic relics......

027.JPGi put some puty that you use to fix metal on the tip of the dark one, just couldnt stand to see that tiny tip ding.

I believe The damage gave it character. That thing has been through alot for a very long time.

I don't think you see the importance. Can you see the hafting adhesive on the base? Did you know its made of raw coral? Your Responses are becoming a bit much. In some circles you may consider yourself an authority but I believe a bit more humility is required when you could learn alot by listening. Waste your money?... you have alot to learn.

sorry it looked like a shell

You're becoming a bit of a nuisance who appears to look for pissing matches. I also know.. you have been kicked off at least one other site for that.. I'm done responding.

Sorry I am asking questions so I can learn. I have never looked for artifacts on the beach before a day in my life. I wouldnt know what to look for.

That's not where any of mine come from. The majority of the land mass of the state of Florida has been part of an ocean floor several times in history. you can go inland 100 miles and find Shell and coral.
