Found this about 3 inches down near the parking area of a park in Joliet. Wondered if it could be the remains of a hood ornament? I came across this other picture of a 1938 hood ornament. The item I found appears to have the remains of a twist type seal underneath.

I searched the "net" over, and found what I think is a "dead" match to your item. Here it is:

I think its Dodge too My favorite way to id stuff is go to e bay search Dodge hood ordenment but you will find one like yours with a year --- I use ebay to id alot of stuff

I don't think he dug the actual ornament .. just the rusty plate shown at the left in his post.

It's a very good fish though. It would probably look very nice on the hood of a 1930's Dodge Ram? It would certainly be a conversation piece?
