Swung for a few hours in a spot that caught my eye when digging milk bottles earlier this year and was nicely rewarded. The 1812 button sounded just like a shotgun shell and really surprised me...the cuff button is civil war navy I believe but I need to lemon juice her proper and I will post updated pics of both button (both have considerable gold gilt left just need to restore). Pennies are 1893 and 1929. Nice mix of late colonial, civil war, and depression relics...will definitely be back to hammer the creek when warmer. Have a great day everyone :).

UPDATE: 'navy cuff button' is actually a Rhode Island militia button (thank you Fredneck on ID there)

Now that's a really nice hunt congratulations on the buttons.
I did a button with a lemon rind the other day. Turned out pretty good.
Great to see you out for a hunt again.

ty for support pepper, fun to switch from jewelry hunting in summer to relics in fall/winter...maybe a gold dollar coin in my future? one can only aspire...

Congratulations on a great hunt. A nice variety of finds that must have been a real blast to dig. Hope you find that gold coin, still looking for mine as well. Stay safe, good luck and keep swingin.

Oh I know that those beautiful buttons would earn a spot on my top shelf of recoveries.
Well done on the cleanup process 👏 👍

thanks for awesome feedback, definitely will be many more trips...guy was running a jackhammer up the hill couldn't hear half the targets anyway so going back tomorrow, hopefully another post coming!

Where abouts in Northern Virginia are you located? I'm over in Herndon.

Nice diggin' !! Your beautiful cuff button is a Rhode Island Militia staff button, not Navy.
had a feeling I was wrong @ that! thank you so much for ID...even better than what I had originally thought then, very cool how ended up on a Virginia creek ihni

Great clean up on those buttons!
That navy button is my pick!
Good hunt!
thank you kindly ironhorse, you have posted many amazing things...think I like artifact restoration almost as much as finding the stuff but thrill of hunt always first :)
